{"id":4232,"date":"2013-04-24T10:36:45","date_gmt":"2013-04-24T10:36:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kibo.energy\/?p=4232"},"modified":"2014-06-18T20:07:28","modified_gmt":"2014-06-18T20:07:28","slug":"korean-power-company-to-participate-in-rukwa-coal-to-power-project-placing-for-780000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kibo.energy\/index.php\/korean-power-company-to-participate-in-rukwa-coal-to-power-project-placing-for-780000\/","title":{"rendered":"Korean Power Company To Participate in Rukwa Coal to Power Project  &#038; Placing for \u00a3780,000"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Korean Government Owned Power Company To Participate in Kibo\u2019s Rukwa Coal to Power Project &amp; Placing for \u00a3780,000<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The board of Kibo Mining Plc (\u201cKibo\u201d or the &#8220;Company&#8221;) is pleased to report that, pursuant to the decision by the Tanzanian Government to include the Company\u2019s Rukwa Coal to Power Project as a key component of the Tanzanian National Energy Strategy (\u201cNES\u201d), it has now concluded its selection of Korean East-West Power Co. Ltd (\u201cEWP\u201d) as the preferred strategic participant in the Rukwa Coal to Power Project and negotiations are currently under way towards finalizing a formal joint venture agreement between the parties.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Company has also now received the consent of EWP to disclose:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 EWP\u2019s previously confidential letter of intent dated 21 February 2013 confirming its intention to participate in the Company\u2019s Rukwa Coal to Power Project; and<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 the disclosure by the parties of EWP\u2019s stated intent to the Tanzanian Ministry of Energy and Minerals (\u201cMEM\u201d) and the Tanzanian Electricity Supply Commission (\u201cTANESCO\u201d) prior to the Project\u2019s inclusion in the NES.<\/p>\n<p>EWP is a global power producer owned by the Korean Government and it currently owns and operates power plants in Korea with a total generation capacity of 8,816MW. EWP has extensive experience and expertise in the power generation business and is currently also actively engaged in developing and operating power plants in more than 10 countries including the United States of America, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.<\/p>\n<h5>Placing<\/h5>\n<p>The board of Kibo is also pleased to announce that it has received commitments to a share placing to raise \u00a3780,000, before expenses, (the \u201cPlacing\u201d) through the issue of 19,500,000 new ordinary shares of Eur0.015 (\u201cOrdinary Shares\u201d) at 4p per share (the \u201cPlacing Shares\u201d). The net proceeds of the Placing will be used by theCompany to undertake the scoping study at Rukwa as the Company looks to complete the joint venture agreement between parties.<\/p>\n<p>Application will be made for the Placing Shares to be admitted to trading on AIM and dealings are expected to commence on 1 May 2013 (\u201cAdmission\u201d). The Board of Kibo is composed of professionals whose experience include mineral exploration, mine development, mining finance, tax, law, mergers and acquisitions, and financial control of public companies. It is supported by a competent and motivated Tanzanian staff that operates from Kibo&#8217;s operations office in Dar es Salaam.<\/p>\n<p>The mineral assets of the Company comprise five projects areas in Tanzania &#8211; Haneti (nickel, PGE and gold), Morogoro (Gold), Lake Victoria (Gold), Rukwa (Coal) and Pinewood (Coal &amp; Uranium).<\/p>\n<p>The Haneti project is the subject of a joint venture with Brazilian Votorantim Metais Participa\u00e7\u00f5es Ltda, a member of Votorantim Group. The Rukwa and Pinewood projects are situated close to the Mtwara Corridor, an area where the Tanzanian Government has committed to significant infrastructure development and which has seen recent multi-million dollar investment in coal and coal-fired power stations and uranium exploration.<\/p>\n<p>The Rukwa project is substantially more advanced than Kibo\u2019s existing exploration projects, with\u00a0 a\u00a0 significant\u00a0 Mineral\u00a0 Resource\u00a0 of\u00a0 thermal\u00a0 coal already\u00a0 defined.\u00a0 The\u00a0 project\u00a0 enjoys strong support expressed by the Tanzanian Government for the expedited development of a coal\u00a0 mine\u00a0 and\u00a0 mine-mouth\u00a0 coal-fired\u00a0 power\u00a0 plant,\u00a0 and\u00a0 is\u00a0 further\u00a0 enhanced\u00a0 by\u00a0 the\u00a0 recent selection\u00a0 of\u00a0 Korean\u00a0 Government\u00a0 owned\u00a0 Korean\u00a0 East-West\u00a0 Power\u00a0 Co.\u00a0 Ltd\u00a0 (\u201cEWp\u201d)\u00a0 as Kibo\u2019s development Partner for the Rukwa Project.<\/p>\n<p>Kibo&#8217;s objective is to build shareholder value in a sustainable manner.
