{"id":6557,"date":"2018-06-21T14:10:34","date_gmt":"2018-06-21T14:10:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kibo.energy\/?p=6557"},"modified":"2018-09-24T17:24:32","modified_gmt":"2018-09-24T17:24:32","slug":"maiden-samrec-compliant-coal-resource-statement-mabesekwa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kibo.energy\/index.php\/maiden-samrec-compliant-coal-resource-statement-mabesekwa\/","title":{"rendered":"Maiden SAMREC-Compliant Coal Resource Statement for Mabesekwa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kibo Mining plc (AIM: KIBO; AltX: KBO), the multi-asset Africa focused energy and resource company, is pleased to announce an update on its 85% controlled Mabesekwa Coal Independent Power Project (\u2018MCIPP\u2019 or the \u2018Project\u2019) in Botswana, which it is developing with Botswana listed energy company Shumba Energy Limited (\u201cShumba\u201d).<!--more--> The Project, which is being advanced in tandem with the Company\u2019s Mbeya Coal to Power Project (\u2018MCPP\u2019) in Tanzania and Benga Independent Power Project (\u2018BIPP\u2019) in Mozambique, is a part of Kibo\u2019s strategy of building a leading African focused power company.<\/p>\n<p>Feasibility studies on the MCIPP and Mabesekwa Coal Resource (\u201cMCR\u201d) are advanced, with water and land use permits and environmental certification already in place and a pre-feasibility study (\u2018PFS\u2019) on a coal mine and a scoping study on a coal fired thermal power plant completed. The Company has now received a Competent Persons Report (\u2018CPR\u2019) on the Project, which includes a SAMREC-compliant Maiden Resource Statement on the excised 300 Mt portion of the MCR (\u2018Kibo Mabesekwa Coal Resource\u2019 or \u2018KMCR\u2019).<\/p>\n<p>The CPR was completed by independent geological and mining consultancy company, Gemecs (Pty) Ltd of South Africa.
